Meditation Courses

Open to All

The meditation retreats are open to all who are interested, there are no special requirements. During the retreats, I offer – mostly on a daily basis – meditation instructions and talks in which topics related to the meditation practice are explained. In addition, there are regular meetings between me and the meditators in which I give practical advice for further practice or answers to questions and doubts.

Silence

During a retreat, meditators are encouraged not to speak with each other and to refrain from using any electronic means of communication. This ‘silence’ forms an important part for the training of the heart & mind in order to discover and realize the true nature of all processes in the body, heart & mind – undisturbed by external influences and distractions.

Retreat Fee – Generosity

The fee only covers the organization of the retreat as well as the meditator’s accommodation and meals during the retreat.

According to Buddhist tradition, I do not ask for any fee when sharing the Dhamma. The Buddha’s teachings – the Dhamma – are so valuable that no price can be fixed. In addition, the Dhamma should be freely accessible to all who are interested as it was at the time of the Buddha.

To support my livelihood, voluntary donations can be put into a box at the end of a retreat. The meditators determine the amount of their donation, depending on the financial means and their personal appreciation for the teachings.

I would like to continue practicing this principle of generosity (dāna) here in the West, in the same way I have witnessed and experienced it by the Burmese people while living and practising in Burma.

We do not practise meditation to gain admiration from anyone. Rather we practise to contribute to peace in the world. Sayadaw U Pandita
